Future of ABC Private School
In September 2015, a new chapter in the life of the school begins with a shift in location from the Abu Dhabi Island to a brand new facility in the city of Shamkha, near Abu Dhabi’sinternational airport.
ABC at Shamkha aspires to be a school incorporating the best of its ‘Island’ tradition along with improvements and upgrades. Throughout its history, ABC has been acknowledged for its student-centred and caring approach to education. It is a school that values the heritage and culture of its families and the UAE and acted accordingly. Families have trusted the school with their children, and the school has nurtured them. The School has always had an open, community mind, which is an important legacy for us to take as we make the move.
The ‘new’ ABC will also be a very different place. First, the school will broaden the range of its curriculum so that students can continue to Grade 12. It will continue to offer the popular British Curriculum, but with far greater and better resourcing.
Among other things, the new school boasts:
- Purpose built Science and Technology Laboratories
- Fully equipped Computer Science Rooms
- Aa large and well stocked Library with collections of both Arabic and English books and resources
- 21st century classrooms with full ICT functionality
- Music room
- Large auditorium and Swimming Pool
- New and fully equipped school clinic
- A modern cafeteria

We are taking many of the best teachers from the old villa-school, and blending them with new International, licensed, English-native speaking teachers from the UK and other countries. The school will have a new focus on quality teaching and learning and expects to significantly raise its standards. The aim is that all ABC students will achieve their very best at the school.
An important part of the ABC program will be its academic support for students requiring that bit extra – with a well-planned Special Needs program to cater for students at either end of the ability range. Extra-curricular activities have always been important at ABC Private School and these will be further developed and enhanced. Finally, the school values the open relationship it has with its parents and the community. ABC Private Schoolat Al Shamkha will build on this, drawing its parents close in order to better work together for the benefit of the students.
Here at ABC we aim to share, celebrate and learn from the world’s cultures that make up the international community of our school, whilst respecting the values and traditions of the UAE. We aim to provide the best quality all-through (ages 3-18) education based upon traditions of the British educational system set within the unique context of the UAE
Inspiration, aspiration and encouragement underpin our child centered approach to teaching and learning. Our friendly, stimulating and supportive school ethos helps to support high standards of behaviour and achievement. This results in students who are confident and reflective learners with adaptable skills, who should go on to work successfully whether independently or collaboratively in a global context.
