School Rules
At ABC Private School (ABC) we aim to provide a safe and secure environment for all members of the school community in all areas of the school. In order to do this, the following protocol and procedures are required.
The following have been identified as times of the day when less structured supervision is possible
- Before school starts
- Movement around school
- Break and lunch times
- Canteen
- Library / ICT laboratories / Science laboratories
- End of day
Learners require vigilant and constant supervision to ensure that the high levels of behaviour we expect are maintained. Therefore, the following should be observed at all times:
Before school starts
- All students will be outside in the covered area before the start of the school day – they should not proceed directly to their classroom
- School opens at 7:00 am
- Supervisors should be presents before 7am to supervise student arrival
- A first bell will ring at 7.40am to signal students should begin to line up in their designated space
- All teachers must be outside at this time to meet their class
- Another bell will ring at 7.45am to signal the commencement of movement to class
- No class should leave the area until the teacher is satisfied with their behaviour in the line up
- Class teachers are responsible for the behaviour of their class as they move to their classroom
- All students must wear proper ABC school uniform when they come to school.
- E. uniform is allowed only for the P.E. day.
Break and lunch times
- The duty rota will ensure that a minimum teachers will be on each duty area
- Senior Leadership Team will assist and monitor staff attendance at duty areas
- TAs may be used to assist however they are NOT to be alone on duty at any time
End of day
- At 2.15pm (1.45pm for KG1 & KG2), all students must be escorted by the teachers to the covered area for dismissal or directed to the bus pick up
- No students are to be permitted to leave unless with a parent or driver
- Teachers are to remain with their class until all students have left.
Movement around school
- Students will be trained to walk on the right hand side of the corridors / stairwells
- All groups of students must be escorted at all times when moving around the school by the class teacher / TA / Specialist subject teacher
- Movement should be managed calmly to enable students to move quietly and efficiently around the site
- The teacher to whom the students are being moved must be there to meet them on arrival
- Teachers must be punctual when dropping off and picking up their classes from specialist teachers
- No classes are to be left unsupervised
Library / ICT laboratories / Science laboratories
- All students are required to follow the specific set of rules for these designated areas
- Internet safety rules are to be observed so as to ensure there is no misuse
- No students are to be in any of these areas without the presence of a teacher
Canteen
- Students will be split across three canteens
- Canteen 1 – Grade 1 to 4 only
- Canteen 2 – Grade 5 to Grade 9 Boys
- Canteen 3 – Grade 5 to 9 Girls
- All students are to clear up their waste and deposit in the bins – duty staff are to supervise this
- The canteen is only to be used during break and lunch times
